Lexi Sutter is an award-winning journalist who joined the NBC Chicago team in 2018. Lexi worked at television stations in Phoenix, Kansas City, and Peoria, Ill., before returning home to Chicago.
Her career has taken her across the country, and she has experience with all sorts of topics. She covered two World Series runs with the Kansas City Royals. She once traveled to Guam embedded with the Air National Guard. She’s won Emmy awards for her reporting on the 2020 Chicago riots and a deep-dive investigation into a local VA hospital with accusations of abuse. She led breaking news coverage from the field after an F-4 tornado tore through central Illinois, ultimately winning an Edward R. Murrow award. She’s been on the frontlines of many national stories, including the Los Angeles wildfires. Lexi is currently the host of a weekly series on NBC 5 called “Only in Chicago.” Lexi attended the University of Arizona where she majored in journalism and completed minors in business administration and health studies.
Outside of work, you’ll find Lexi spending time with her husband, Colby, and their bernedoodle, Ziggy. Lexi is Greek! She lives downtown and attends Annunciation Greek Orthodox church. She is always taking part in all Chicago has to offer – from community events to street festivals, concerts and of course, the restaurant scene.
